WHAT IS A PTFE LINED SAFETY RELIEF VALVE

PTFE Lined Safety Relief Valves or PTFE Pressure Relief Valves are designed to open at a pre-set pressure and discharge fluid, gas or steam until pressure drops to acceptable levels. It is a type of safety valve used to control or limit the pressure in a system; excessive pressure might otherwise build up and create a process upset, instrument or equipment failure, explosion, or fire.

When the force of the pressure acting on the valve exceeded the force of the weight acting through the lever arm or set pressure, the valve opened.

Excess pressure is relieved by allowing the pressurized fluid or gas to flow from an auxiliary passage out of the system. The relief valve is designed or set to open at a predetermined set pressure to protect pressure vessels and other equipment from being subjected to pressures that exceed their design limits.

When the set pressure is exceeded, the relief valve becomes the “path of least resistance” as the valve is forced open and a portion of the fluid is diverted through the auxiliary route.

PTFE Lined Safety Relief Valves are ideal for the chemical industry, fully lined internally to withstand aggressive Liquids or Gas. The valve is an automatic pressure relief device for pressure equipment, pressure vessels and pipelines with high-risk corrosive media.
